Yes our defense not good, but so far at least some of the blame goes to offense. It's not all defense which is usually blamed, other team only has like 30 yards passing. Maybe rust of off week ?

The QB is basically a RB and the o-line is useless against stunts and blitzes.

Don't forget wideouts that can't get separation.

The O-line is getting blown up on almost every play. And Davis is panicking today consequently.

I like Davis and he definitely puts a lot of pep when he makes those scrambles but the kid can't throw to save his life.

Colbert actually seems to be able to plant his feet and throw. Why not play him a bit more.
Davis is probably suffering from PTSD due to the line getting blown up week after week.

Can't blame JJ any more. Aren't these Morris' studs plus Sutton.

Only 2 receivers are from Morris, the starters are JJ recruits. And from what I saw Castille was able to get separation but did not get very good throws. KT had some bad balls thrown to him as well but he was able to adjust and get close enough to the ball to catch a couple. With that being said Taggert recruited some pretty talented secondary players if you look at his past few classes.

Usually it takes longer to develop linemen than it does receivers and running backs. A good receiver can learn routes and show his talent quickly (i.e. Sutton). One of the toughest things for linemen is to pick up blitzes. (And, by the way, everyone we play has scouted SMU and knows the strengths and weaknesses of everyone who plays on our team - including every lineman.) However, once linemen learn to pick up blitzing lbs big holes will be created. As for talent, SMU is developing their freshmen OLs and have about five on the recruitment list this coming year. We are also recruiting a number of DL that should not take as long to see results from IMO. As for receivers getting open, that is why speed is so important. Morris seems to be recruiting speed and quickness (among other talents). I'm not sure speed and quickness was as high on the list of importance to the last staff. I guess we are just going to have to sit back and give this staff a chance to put their program together.

We are definitely going to have to be patient.

I noticed several plays yesterday where receivers had come between the hash marks but Davis just didn't see them. Obviously some of that is the pressure he is under, but I'm not sure he sees the field very well. Also noticed that when he leaves the pocket and scrambles, our receivers don't react and come back to the ball to help him out. Too many guys run their routes and stand in position with hands up (as if they are open when they are not). While we were all encouraged by what appeared to be a much improved offense the 1st couple of weeks, as defenses have turned up the pressure we have become totally inept offensively. Almost as bad as last year under JJ and Mason
