Bring on Tulsa

Postby Charleston Pony » Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:13 pm

Tulsa was at least competitive against Memphis Friday night. Will this SMU team respond to their latest humiliating defeat by fighting for 60 minutes next week and show us the season is not over...or will they roll over and get hammered again in front of about 10,000 loyalists? When I see how so many of last week's losers (Ole Miss and So Cal immediately come to mind) came out and played great this week, I keep wondering whether our guys might be able to respond similarly.

Chad Morris & Company have a real challenge on their hands. Can't turn this roster over fast enough. Need another win this season so any hard core fans we still have will keep the faith.

10,000 loyalists?

Be careful what you wish for. We'll need to score at least 50 to beat Tulsa.

How about a new tact...let's pick a few parts of the game that we hope they win, or maybe improve on. I lack confidence of anything resembling a win against Tulsa. I am beginning to question Tulane honestly. Having said that, I am assuming HCCM et al are looking at individual battles and positional play for their victories on the field for the rest of the season.

Can they get good play out of the O-Line for an entire quarter...half? What about the D-Line? DB's? Can we score points in every quarter of a game? Just small victories. So...question is, what areas do you foresee potential growth against Tulsa?

Would be great if this team could show a few signs of life for the faithful 1500.

Tulsa will not be as stout on the DL so I'm hopeful we will be able to run the ball better against them. Will need to manage the clock or they will lay 50 points on us. Just want to see us compete for 4 quarters and I'm still looking at Tulane as our best chance to win another game this year. Two wins and "year over year improvement" has to be the goal. If Tulsa blows us out and we then get humiliated by Temple and Navy, there might be nothing left of this team by the time we get to Tulane. Morris & Company have a major challenge to keep these guys motivated...not to mention maintaining their own energy for building this program. Years and years of losing and being the doormat of our conference has taken a toll on a lot of us. Hopefully a couple of disappointing years won't wear our coaching staff down.

In your face, Tulsa! Wanna fight?

Put 'em up. Put 'em up. I dare ya.

Secrets to supporting the Mustangs:

1. Bring at least two people with you to the game. One that can drive home.
2. Drink at least three beers before the game, One or two a quarter during the game.
3. Stand up and yell proportionately louder as the buzz comes on.
4. Increase the number of people you bring to the games as the team gets better.
5. If you don't have any friends to bring, drink more.

Despite a poor year, we are on a roll with new talent. Book it.

By the way, we need a kick-off yell. Just my suggestion, after consulting with several experts who have items 1-3 above mastered.
