Matt Rhule was 2-10 in his first season at Temple

Justin Fuente went 4-8 and 3-9 in his first two seasons at Memphis

George O'Leary went 0-11 in his first season at UCF (and might go 0-fer again this year, but I digress)

The cupboard was BARE, BARE, BARE when Morris took this job as we're seeing now. It wasn't going to happen over night and the only thing that's going to make things better is an influx of talent (which is happening - check recruiting - almost 70% of our c/o 2016 commits have P5 offers) and guys getting here and participating in a legitimate offseason conditioning program which apparently wasnt happening under JJ.

Yes, it sucks losing and there wasn't much yesterday that wasn't ugly but it's going to take time. USF had some very solid recruiting classes the past few years - they had a lot more talent than we did and it showed yesterday. That won't be the case for much longer

Yep. The lack of talent can't be masked with smoke and mirrors.

Think about this. How bad must our backup OL be that they cannot take a job from the starters? We have played virtually every LB on the roster.

Last night, we had a true freshman walk on get in the game at WR. Bozidar was getting time at DT. Prime Time Jr is a DB.

Who was the walk on frosh receiver? Maybe Deion Jr. will surprisingly show some of his Dad's talents in the secondary.

Exactly. At first, I thought that we blew Honey's redshirt on a run play; however, Percy is listed on the post game stat page.

How many of last year's class are redshirting? Hicks is one but wonder how much is being held back to shore up the future.

Stallion probably has an exact number. But a good amount of last year's class are either projects or are just at a position where they would be a contributor at best, so they're taking a rs. I think the number was that about 10 redshirted though

the difference in last year's class and this years Class is that last year we signed a lot of players who weren't physically ready size wise to play the position they were recruited at. The Scott brothers at DE, Biggers at DLine, Jordon Williams was recovering from injury, OLM Keaton Bates, WR Alex Honey, Thetford, Herndon. All too small. This year we got Blake Carlisle who is a rail at about 6-4, 185-who knows where he ends up in College but he's a likely redshirt -athough he's a pretty tough SOB for his size from his videos. Ryan Becker is probably a redshirt at OLM although he looks like he's putting on some bulk. Almost every other kid is FBS size coming into next year. Badejo is about 6-3, 215 so he will need to bulk up but only if they plan to play him at DE like reported. Otherwise, just about all OLM, DLM, LBs, the H-Back (Corey Rau), the WRs, QB, the Safeties are ready to roll size wise.

Most likely to play as freshman:
H-Back Corey Rau
WR Brandon Benson
DLM Ken MacLaurin
OLM Jacob Todora
CB Mikial Onu
LB Noah Spears
LB Michael Badejo (if they play him at LB)
LB Jordan Ward
just about every DB will get a shot
heck there's very few that have no shot at playing next year-but of course some will be held back if not a position of need. On the other hand, name a position SMU doesn't need help at

I guarantee you SMU will be a much more physical team size wise in coming years

I think HCCM was able to get some quality players in last years class that redshirted. Not as many has this class though.

Yes, we have to be patient. I know it is miserably difficult to do with the teams performance this year when expectations were much higher. To paraphrase Coach Royal when he first came to Texas and was getting beat up in the old SWC, You better get your licks in now boys cause things are gonna change. I do feel that this is our future.

I don't mind when we sign guys with D1 frames (Scott brothers, Honey, Thetford) who need to bulk up a little.

I am very happy with recruiting, but the OL is going to take 2 more classes to have the proper depth/competition at every position.
