From the Dallas Morning News:

Amid SMU's struggles, QB Matt Davis finds out how fleeting job security can be

UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU's Matt Davis discovered how fleeting job security can be for quarterbacks.

Davis led the team in rushing and passing over the first six games. He limited mistakes with wise decisions, throwing a school-record 171 passes without an interception. His play evoked the praise of coach Chad Morris, who called Davis "one of the most competitive players I've ever been around."

But Davis' streak ended in last Saturday's loss to South Florida. And Davis found himself on the sideline in the fourth quarter, standing beside Morris as redshirt freshman Darrel Colbert took over.

when you get right down to it-Matt Davis has been outplayed at QB by the opposing QB in 6 out of 7 games too. Davis outplayed the NTSU QB-the rest have outplayed him

Don't entirely disagree...except that between he and Boykin at the TCU game it was a tie in my opinion. With that being said the QB is only as good as the guys around him...I thought the O-Line played better earlier on in the season.

I outplayed the NTSU QB from the stands.

Liked the part about people moving around positions. I know that Deon, Jr. was probably trying to avoid the comparisons to his father, a pretty good NFL cornerback, by playing wideout. But with his speed and with some fatherly advice, he could very well be a great cover corner, kind of like Darrell Green (kind of small, but fast). I was at the game between the Cowboys and the Redskins in Green's rookie year when he ran down Tony Dorsett and caught him from behind. Speed covers up for a multitude of sins at corner, and with that speed you can jump routes out of a zone and get a few pick sixes. You can't teach speed.

I don't think jr is anywhere near as fast as his dad was!

For a short guy to be a great cover corner they need to have elite speed and elite leaping ability, Deion Jr. has neither.
