yeah wished we had about 3-4 like that contributing on defense but that's not happening because of the emphasis Morris had to place on recruiting offensive players to transition from RunNShoot to the spread. Said in Week 1 that the Defensive Rebuild doesn't start until 2016. Next to nothing on defense. I don't think there is a single player on the defense who is or will be even a Third Team All Conference player in their career. No one is guaranteed a starting spot next year. Thank god we have some great defensive prospects committed and a historic number of True/Redshirt Freshman are going to contribute next year on defense.

They definitely recruited heavily on defense in the 2016 class. It might take a couple of years to get all the new players the experience that they need but I agree that we have some good players coming.

Next year if the defense can make the same jump that the offense made this year, we will be winning some games!

Keep your eyes on the prize y'all. It's about 2017/2018.

The only defensive player that looks like he has a chance to be a part of the future is Justin Lawler. He plays with relentless energy and has some natural pass rush instincts. Other than that there isn't a single defensive player that looks D1A caliber.

Our middle linebackers need to be upgraded a lot.

None of them would touch the field for Abilene Christian.

As bad as they've been, we might have 3 true freshmen starters in the secondary next year....

Adam said something the other day to the effect of, "If NCAA rules allowed it, Eric Sutton could walk onto the field and start for SMU next week without even practicing".

That's exactly what I thought last week when you said something similar about one offensive player. FEW players on offensive or defensive are safe starters next year. Jones, Castille and West may be exceptions. By the way I loved seeing Sutton pass...yet another problem in covering Sutton.

On the long touchdown run for Temple where their back outran our entire team, it looked to me as though our def tackle was stunting to the inside and our def end either couldn't cover or (MORE LIKELY) the linebacker just didn't fill the hole. It didn't look to me like he was blocked but just blew the coverage. That's why I thought perhaps the d. end might not have been able to cover. Whichever, they could have driven a Sewell cadillac through that whole cause it was huge!!!

these guys all played well and I would add the freshman punter to the list. He's punting much better than he did the 1st couple of games after being benched for Koonce, who hasn't performed nearly as well as he did last year

The Freshman punter Josh Williams knows what he is doing even though technique is not great. Zero punt return yards. He's much better kicking inside 20 and directional kicks away from the returner-that's why he plays over Koonce who consistently outkicks his coverage without hang time causing big punt returns. Plus Koonce is the touchback King with beautiful punts which bounce right into the end zone-which is to a Punting Coach means negative 20

You have to be kidding. He had 2 punts of less than 20 yards to start the game. I could kick directional with no return too if I kicked straight out of bounds.

I am not sure but didn't Koonce kick the one down to the 1?
