Really good article from this mornings Enquirer. Ono is a terrific president and he is doing a lot of good groundwork.

It's amazing how SMU is able to keep its activities related to getting into a P5 conference out of the media.

SMU isn't under the same set of rules as UC in regards to releasing public records. Not sure if Turner is working the system like Ono. I don't know if this pays off for UC in the short term, but long term it might. One of the radio discussions here is whether it would be good for UC to move from being a 3rd or 4th place team in the AAC with some chances to win to moving to be a bottom feeder. Outside of football and basketball, UC has a pretty average to below average athletic program.

Am I missing the joke? Seems like a good strategy for UC, and they'd give the Big 12 another eastern team.
Again SMU will be on the outside looking in on the next wave of tv deal restructuring and conference alignment

What are the open records rules surrounding the Big XII? I know one of the benefits that Northwestern brings the Big Ten is that they are a private university. Because of that the Big Ten's e-mails are not subject to open records requests, nor are the AD/Presidents when they are discussing anything to do with the conference. With Baylor and TCU, does the Big XII have the same protection from freedom of information requests?

Anybody know? I can't imagine that RGT and RH are doing nothing, but I'm surprised nothing has become public through freedom of information requests on the other side. Unless of course they do not have to disclose because of the private schools.

what is funny about the article is the implication that who he met for lunch matters or better yet that his brother in law knows the sister of some guys cousin twice removed who is the prez of KState or whatever who has a direct line to Boren. If vague connections mattered, SMU would already be in much better shape. We have big donor families who overlap as donors to UT etc with long lines of connections all over the place. That and 25 cents get you a cup o coffee.
