Always interesting to see how writers who cover our opponents see the guys on our team. It will be interesting to see whether Davis can improve dramatically in his 2nd year in Chad Morris' offense. Will be a huge factor in whether the 2016 season can be a big improvement over 2015

I am of the opinion that with the increased offensive prowess around him that we can trot out the exact same davis with no improvement and his stats will be noticeably better. I'm expecting a pretty solid year from him

I think people on PF are unfairly critical of Davis because they undervalue his running ability. Behind a bad OL and with true freshman manning his backfield, he managed to account for 3,000 yards of total offense. Even with a bad OL, his stats compare favorably (often significantly so) to many of the players on that list. (Plus, he never had the benefits of padding his stats by playing against our defense).

Will he be a number 1 draft pick at QB? NEVER

Is he an above average AAC QB? Absolutely.

Think about it this way: Compared to our recent QBs, he is arguably better than everyone except Gilbert.
BLM - ???
Padron - Better
McDermott - Much Better
Gilbert - Not Better
Burcham - Much Better

Davis won us some games, but not sure how he is ranked ahead of Temple and Cincy.

Give Davis a solid OL and some receivers who can separate and I'd put the kid in the top 10 QB all time at SMU. I think he's THAT good. YOU try to play where you're getting sacked 5-6 times a game and someone's in your face 2 seconds after the snap and see how well YOU do. I'd start freaking out by midseason and running and holding onto the ball and start making all kinds of crazy decisions too. As far as I'm concerned, he had one terrible game last year. Outside of that, I don't think a lot of his poor play was his fault. Of course, I'd like him to make his pass reading progressions much faster, but maybe now after being under Coach Morris for a season he'll be better there this year.

Davis is consistently one of the best athletes on the field every game, so that bails him out a lot. he also has some positives going for him this season that he didnt last year: emergence of Proche and younger receivers; expanded use of the offense that will hopefully get athletes in space; running the same offense for consecutive years (has that every happened to him during his collegiate career? A&M, Juco, RnS, Clemson offense).

so he could very well be one of the better qbs in the aac this year. o-line is still a question mark though.

Just the sheer fact that you put a question mark on blm and outright stated that he's better than Padron (who took blms job) and McDermott (who took pardons job) leads me to not take you too seriously. And as far as throwing the football I'd take all three over davis. His saving grace is being stupidly athletic. He is not a qb

Or highschool. Or a&m, or tjc. He's a redshirt senior and can't throw the football well. Anymore excuses for him?

And he still looked bad at it. Since this has been a common theme throughout his career that would suggest that the problem has been with the student, not the teachers.

How is he arguably better than Padron?

1) In 2010, against lesser competition and with 2 more games, Padron only had 4000 yards. If Davis had Padron's OL and 2 NFL WRs to throw to, I think their Total Offense stats would be very close.
2) Davis didn't quit when things got tough.
