I miss Aresco interviews and Straight from the Hart articles saying everything is all good.

Losing UConn and Cincinnati are not the end of the world. Frankly, anything that stabilizes the B12 is probably good for SMU. Why?

If Texas and/or OU bolted, there would be chaos and the likely creation of the P4 with SMU on the outside forever.

With the B12 stabilized, the next changes are likely to involve the P12/ACC. They are probably our best hope at a P5 position.

SMDH....

Embrace the AAC. Its far, far better than we deserve given what we've produced over the past 25 years. The best thing we can do is collectively elevate the conference and see what happens.

Exactly, we are in a 4 Bid League for BB and Houston is in the conversation for a "big bowl."

If we can get our FB team competing for the AAC title every year, things will be just fine.
If we cannot, we can't complain.

Cinci and UConn bolt and this isn't a 4 bid league. Hopefully the conference will stay as is until we can do something on the football field.

Someone remind me again why Texas has any incentive to give up the LHN?

Oh yeah. There isn't any. Until it is in Texas' interest to expand there will be no expansion no matter how loudly the Big 12 minions yell up at them.

1) ESPN is losing money on the LHN. While the money is nice now, it won't be there forever.
2) Between added revenue from expanding the network and "favorable" revenue sharing, UT isn't going to be forced to "take one for the team."
3) At the end of the day, Texas loves being the Big Dog in the B12. With the exception of OU, most members of the B12 have limited options and act accordingly. If Texas joined the SEC/B10/P12, they would have to cede an enormous amount of control to their new "partners."

ONE OTHER THING: The ACC still doesn't have its own network. With people cutting the cord, the ACC is going to have a difficult time getting an ACC Network off the ground. With the B12 Network in place, the B12 will probably try to raid the ACC (FSU and Clemson) at some point.

Now you have touched on something important there re: cord cutters.

All of these huge conference TV deals (SEC excluded) are going to look terrible over the next decade as everything moves to an a la carte digital platform. Its happening sooner than anyone wants to admit. The NBA already allows you to purchase individual games. The ACC has got to be kicking themselves that they didn't get locked into a longer term TV deal a few years back.

Interesting take on BC's experience in the ACC. http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... story.html
