son of George Lynch so hopefully he has some athleticism. High School: St. Marks-don't know much about him but did find he's a pretty good basketball player-size, athleticism and genes-hopefully some potential there

here's his videos-he does some nice things at DE-but probably not quick enough to play position at FBS level-but shouldn't be too much of a problem at DT.

Doesn't he get to go to SMU for free since his dad's an employee?

I believe you are correct. Good addition for SMU.

I'll take him.
Looking over the roster, the quick progress I'm most pleased to see is that it seems we have 5-6 very serviceable DTs that can rotate in right away (the 2 jucos - Williams and Green, Zelt, Gentry, McLaurin, Jones . . . and we know even more are coming in 2017). Secondary looking good, but as Stallion has said, they are all pups so expect learning year this year.
Other thing I see (as do most others) are the glut of very mediocre OL we have - would LOVE to exchange them out for a few more really strong LBs/secondary. But I have high hopes for some of THOSE pups (Todora, Smith) and then of course Ali in 2017.
Biggest question mark is who is going to be the QB next year (and a solid backup for Matt this year). I understand that Brewer could be the future, but I'd LOVE to sign Gillins.

Are we listing players at their Goal Weight now - >How did he go from 250lbs to 300lbs in 1 year? Wasn't his dad the "fitness" guy for the BB team for a while?

Lynch is a physical monster and probably does weigh close to 300. Different body type than his dad,but a very impressive frame too. He is very quick and athletic and had some great moments on both the football field and basketball court while at St. Mark's. Because of his frame, if he stays on the defensive side of the ball, I see him inside. I could also see him as an offensive tackle. His potential is limitless and this was a good pick up for SMU.
PS - I wouldn't mind seeing him as a walk on big body for the hoops team.

St Marks has always had a football field -Bailey Field-which was upgraded a few years ago by the Hunts-football field at the east side of campus-can't see it from Preston. I think st Marks has about 4 kids in the NFL now including the Acho brothers and that WR Ty Montgomery from Stanford

Assuming he makes the team and plays a lot, will Lynch as a walk on and tuition eligible child of an employee always be a player in addition to whatever number can be signed to a NLI?

At 6'3 300, I'm surprised he didn't have any offers, even from a DIII or juco.

Since DIII doesn't offer scholarships would we know about any "offers"?

Praise this news - After yesterday I really needed something to pick my spirits up.
A big man that played Bball too. I will guard my emotions as we have had other that could have put the HURT on a team but only "danced to the boogie, get down" on the sidelines.
With the JUCO help and hopefully some snaps for Lynch we will not get run over up the middle this year. Hope Zelt and Gentry are meaner also.
Go Mustangs.

He looks very athletic on the video. This is not your normal preferred walkon. I like this move.
