Apologies if this already has been listed in another thread (I know at least a couple have been discussed), but a group of freshmen other than those who signed their scholarship papers in February now appear on the SMU roster:

New Berlin (Eisenhower), Wisc.

McKinney (Boyd), Texas

41 — Brice Madison
Defensive back
5-8, 185, 4.52

Don't know — never seen him. Just listed what was on the roster.

Here are some highlights from his senior year:
http://www.hudl.com/video/3/6430958/572 ... 2d68bf8046

(I like the fact that they put a spotlight circle around him, to help viewers figure out which player is the kicker.)

The longest field goal in that clip, unless I missed one, is 43 yards, and his kick looks like it would have been good from another 5-7 yards, which would push his range to 50-ish. Could he go beyond that? No idea.

His leg swing is very compact, without much follow-through. He seems to generate decent power, especially if his listed weight is accurate. Got to think that as he matures and gets stronger, that would only increase. He also seems able to vary his trajectory, getting the ball to rise fairly quickly on shorter kicks and then hit more of a line drive on longer kicks.

More senior highlights:

Second set of highlights are the same but they did include a good LaQuinta commercial. Do we have any stats? % of fgs made? Extra point misses? Seems to have a decent leg for high school but just wondering about his consistency.

Found a page with HP stats. Said he played in 10 games, connecting on all four of the FGs he tried, with a long of 43. Hit 35 of 36 extra points. It looks like it's final season stats, but I'm not positive.

He will have to attempt a lot more than 36 XPs this season!

Pony Pride -

Would you identify also any upperclassmen who are walk-ons? In particular wasn't Garrett Stotts who lettered as an LS last year a walk-on? Is that still his status or is he on scholarship now?

OK, I'll take a swing at this. Without going through all of the recruiting classes (feel free to correct me), I believe the following players first joined the team as walk-ons:

QB Connor Simpson
QB Sam Carey
S Chase Schultz
H Sean Touhy
P/K Alex Melvin
LB Jeremy White
RB Joseph Paden
DB Christian Burks
DB Rashaad Burton
LB RC Cox
K Michael Armstrong
DB Brent Freeman
DL Keyfer Roberts
WR Derek Dickman
DB Brice Madison
DB Raul Reyes
P/K Davis Luster
LB Jackson Mitchell
K Will Moore
LB Andrew Adams
LB Zane Smith
OL Bo Beidleman
LS Nick Avantino
LS Garrett Stotts
LS Michael Sehlinger
DL Myles McCormack
OL Rex Printz
WR Jabari Ford
WR Christian Biedenharn
WR Austin Rolfe
DT Jalen Lynch
DE Robert Hall

Again, feel free to correct me. This does not take into account players like Jackson Mitchell, who earned a scholarship.
