Interesting. Foles is better but the Cowboys certainly need a top-quality backup with Romo's injury history.

Gotta give McCown credit...he's had a nice journeyman career in the NFL. Impressive for a guy who couldn't live up to Cavan's expectations

Believe he's made over $20 million so far in his career.

Surprised a little this has not been asked already today.

Late bloomer or new confirmation of an opportunity lost?

Nothing posted at the moment on espn and NFL mobile hasn't alerted me from what i read on espn he sounded like he was implying it wasn't happening...something about my hearts in Cleveland..me and the front office are on the same page. Maybe I'm reading too far into that though.

That said, unless there is something I'm missing it doesn't seem likely he's coming here. Cleveland is not giving up their sure bet Qb unless they get something good for it..Dallas doesn't want to give up anything sizable for a stop gap back up qb that's 37. Like I said, could be more to it than I'm seeing

No Quarter is referring to the fact that Josh was the starting Quarterback for the Mustangs and Head Coach Caven decided to start another QB thus laying the ground work for Josh transferring.

Hindsight being what it is....I say opportunity lost.

Josh played well overall for SMU but there were times he seemed to fall asleep at the wheel and make some incredibly bonehead plays. As a former SEC QB, Cavan was tough on that position and I remember him getting in McCown's face several times after some of Josh's lapses in judgment. You would have to ask McCown if, in hindsight, he thought playing for Cavan helped him in his development as a QB. Not sure whether he could have worked his way out of Cavan's doghouse, but obviously he decided it wasn't worth trying.

Cowboys really screwed themselves on the back up position now that Kellen Moore is done for the season. Apparently they're happy with the two backups they got.

My memory of McCown was that his accuracy wasn't always consistent, but overall, he was pretty good. But it got to the point where any pass that went incomplete, even if it was a drop by the receiver, got him pulled in favor of --- was it David Page? I was sad to see McCown go, but didn't blame him after the way he was yo-yo'ed in and out of the lineup.
