I wonder sometimes if Larry Brown and June Jones are sitting with their toes in the sand off some Hawaii beaches swapping stories these days.

Go Ponies!

Larry's up here at the beach. Not my day to watch June. Does Ron Meyer have a Labor Day BBQ?

Is Sherwood Blount invited to the BBQ?

Larry is a legend. His efforts and expertise yielded a national level program.

June is not a legend (except in his mind). His efforts and expertise yielded 4 low end "barely" bowls.

Not really a comparison.

June Jones was 10-3 lifetime in career bowls and took SMU from the DP to 4 bowls in 6 years, not too shabby.

Go Ponies!

Have to agree that winning 3 bowl games at SMU (even low level ones) may be a much tougher task than winning 3 NIT games.

Of course, I would not call June Legendary - he did beat up on some bad teams. The best teams that we beat in all of those years were TCU, Nevada, Pitt, and Fresno State.

In my opinion, Larry is in the same league as Coach Bryant and Coach Saban while June should only be mentioned with other mediocre coaches like Coach Weis or Coach Mackovic.
