The New England Patriots traded center Bryan Stork to the Washington Redskins Wednesday, reportedly for a conditional draft pick in a move that could affect the future of former SMU offensive lineman Josh LeRibeus.

The Redskins have said in the past that they like LeRibeus's versatility as a "swing" interior lineman who can play guard or center, and re-signed him over the offseason to a one-year contract worth $920,000.

But it was clear he still had to earn his roster spot in 2016. The Redskins still have incumbent Kory Lichtensteiger at center. Guard Shawn Lauvao has underachieved and battled injuries for a couple of seasons, but still has two years left (at $4 million per season) on his four-year, $17 million contract that he signed as a free agent. In addition, the team high on 2014 draftee Grant Long — another guard/center — who has two years remaining on his contract at lower salaries, and Alabama-ex Arie Kouandjio (guard) and former South Florida center Austin Reiter, in addition to whatever rookie spare parts the team brought in.

On the depth chart on the Redskins' website, which has not been updated to include Stork, LeRibeus is listed as the second-team right guard and the third-team center.
