This board must be slipping. Depth chart out for an hour and no complaints yet?

Was thinking Mitch Kaufman was going back to LB? I think they can use him there and thought we had the freshman in the second slot at TE?
Hope some of those LB's can play - that is clearly the weak spot still.
D line is encouraging on paper.

I was looking at last years depth chart for opening week and no freshman were listed as starters-yet it didn't take long for that to change.

That thing is done in pencil. Lots of things will be moved around over the first couple weeks.

Congratulations to Kadarius Smith and Micheal Onu for making the 2 depth as true freshmen. Like I said in another post that I had been hearing good things about Smith for a while now.

This should link you to the official game notes published by our SID. It includes a depth chart and some other interesting info.

A little surprise to see Hyder not starting over McCarty. Really surprised to see Rao and the other frosh TE running with the scout team last weekend, and this confirms that change. At least for now.
Proche over Castille is an indication that we might have been hiding him a bit this fall waiting for game time.
Looks like Pruitt and M Scott with the scout team last weekend was just to give the frosh some reps.
Bummer that Gentry will miss the game. Surprised to see Roberts at DT instead of the Iowas State transfer? More injuries?
Despite what you see on the depth chart, I think we see a lot of 17, 11 and 13 at the Star.

One thing that you have said that has been right over the years is that the depth charts don't mean a lot on opening day. We'll see who plays.

Have the limited practice observations offered an insight as to whether the "all Texas" policy is good, bad, or a toss so far as punting is concerned?

In this case stepping outside the country was a good thing. Not more stead good but better than what we have had

To be fair, as
Chad Morris said, McCarty also won the starting job last year, only to get hurt at Baylor.

The Pursley injury leaves us very thin at that position and that is a concern.
