Baylor supporters bought a school-record 28,804 public season tickets for the 2016 season, Baylor athletics spokesman Nick Joos said. Last season, the school sold 28,384 season tickets, up from 26,687 season tickets for McLane Stadium’s inaugural season in 2014, Joos said.

Yes, I've heard.
They HAD built a national championship contender before the head coach had been publicly outed as harboring felons and their depth become wafer-thin, so they at least have a product worth viewing. Plus, I'm sure they went out and bought tickets to 'show support' for the *sniff* poor Baylor football team as spending even five minutes on Baylorfans.com will show you the lack of a clue they have right now as said football team is being dismantled as we speak.
Point is - let's see how well that support holds up after they go 7-5, the new coach has to carry on without two full recruiting classes, the nine-figure lawsuits start to take a toll on the football budget, and the team starts to struggle.
Then will find out how much support they have.

Makes me wonder how many of those tickets are bought by unique purchasers. Meaning, did some $$ guys buy up a bunch of tickets to support the team? Is the third-party marketplace going to be swimming with tickets? We will see what the stadium looks like soon enough.

They are clearly using partial seaosn tickets as part of their total. No shame in that, except that they don't admit it.

Well at least they are not fair weather fans and support their team no matter what.

1- Don't judge our fanbase on baylorfans. Even baylorfans are ashamed of 50% of that site

2- BU doesn't sell partial season tickets to my knowledge. Season tickets have been sold out for three years running apart from what's reserved for visitors, family, recruits, and students.

well you're still behind TCU at about 34,000 season tickets (which is technically a stadium sellout minus visitor allotment and student allotment)

Got my Baylor tix off Stubhub - was cheaper than UNT tix.

As the article states, season ticket renewal deadlines were BEFORE everything blew up. I know multiple Baylor alums who would not have renewed if it were after but were stuck with the tix due to timing. They also feel like this is the last year for a long time that they'll be competitive, so why not try to enjoy what they hope is one last decent season before their version of the DP begins...

This is Waco we are talking about. What choices do you have for entertainment? Participate in a lynching? Shoot out with the FBI? Violent biker gang war? If you are going to support criminals you might as well buy a season ticket.
