One of the most memorable (and devastating) games in my life

Key Turnaround Game in SMU History as Mike Ford fumbles on 4th and 1 inside the 10 in closing seconds-a lackluster showing the next week against UH at home led to the emergence of Lance McIllhenny and the true Pony Express. SMU blew a 21 point lead-the losing team blew a 20+ lead in this series about 4-5 times during a 12 year stretch in this series which from about 1974-1986 was the hottest, most highly contested in the SWC. Baylor is SMU's true rival to those who lived through that period. TCU mmh

the 1984 game. Don King. What a memory...

That was the highest scoring game (individual performance) I ever played. The BU DEs played a pinching outside position (completely outside the TE's shoulder). One DE wasn't too bright and I kept taking bigger and bigger spits. He continued to line up as coached and we had a natural off tackle running play all night long. The other DE adjusted when I took too big a split so I had to play him honest.

Doak Field, the BU strong outside LB, was a nasty unsportsmanlike character. I take pride in knowing when I blocked him he never made a tackle. We had more than one fumble by Ford in that game that cost potential TDs so it wasn't all down to that 4th and 1 play.

Soak Field is a perfect example of Saint Grunt Taeff. Pious to the public but without scruples in practice.

That touchdown was against TCU in the Cotton Bowl.

Always thought Teaff squeaky clean reputation was BS - same with Briles - only Briles got exposed.
