Good for them! Baylor should be mocked.

The situation does not need to be mocked out of respect for the victims if nothing else.

That is a fair point.

Baylor's behavior inside and outside of the athletic department was so deplorable that all alumni, students, professors, administrators and staff should feel shame. I have no problem with anyone reminding then to feel shame. Their shame is significantly less then the emotional damage inflicted on the victims. While I don't want the victims to feel more pain - I also don't want Baylor to start feeling comfortable and believe that this is now in the past (washing their hands of their collective sin).

If they actually said that the band "may have WENT too far", it shows their emphasis on engineering may have damaged their English department.

Remarkable that you think mocking the rape-enabling institution is disrespectful to the victims.

Remarkable you made that comment. Apparrently Rice is taking heat from a lot of rape victims. Rape is not funny from any angle you mock it.

If a tree falls in the forest, doth it offend? I'm surprised the Universe even knows what goes on in Rice Stadium. Yay Internet!

mocking a university that tried to hide their rape issue is a good thing. ANyone who says otherwise is trying to shield Baylor from much deserved ridicule. Good for Rice Mob. Only thing they have done with any quality in 20 years.

This is the Mob at its best. If the Mob was playing at Pedophile State and made fun of the pedophile enabler Paterno, would people swoon that it doesn't respect the victims? Oh, Pedophile State just did worse to victims by honoring the pedophile enable Paterno recently. Do we let 'respect' for the victim dissuade our combination of atrocious behavior? Or do we use the social stigma of condemnation and ridicule evaporate due to 'respect for victims. The goal isn't to hide the transgression but to remind people that abhorrent behavior will be publicly recognized and use in public ridicule. Perhaps it isn't prefect but if it makes people and institutions aware and concerned, then perhaps it will prevent this type of behavior in the future.

I believe you can publicly remind people without mocking the situation. But maybe rape victims should be more thick skinned about it and not complain.

People can and do get micro-raged about anything. For every one tweeting faux outrage at the rice band there are 100s that feel that Baylor deserved everything the rice band dished out and more. So rice should regret doing something and shouldn't have gone "too far" with their freedom of speech because a tiny minority pretend to be offended? Bullshoot.
