The big plan was always to expand, force TV to spend extra money, and then the newbies would get a really small chunk of the change. When TV pushed back, everyone backed off.

They also (and I'm probably being naive) are probably trying to help us out because we suck right now and the only candidates worth mentioning now is Houston and probably some east coast team. I hope that's the case but it's in our best interests to either be packaged by Houston or keep Houston from going.

Of course. They leave every conference whenever we get in to run away from us and now where would they go?

I think this is great... it buys us more time. The pressure is really on us over the next 4 or 5 years to start getting it done.

Its great-The AAC remains a strong conference with nationally prominent teams in both FB and Basketball and we have a chance to improve our football program to make us a more marketable product
We weren't getting into the Big 12 this year

F the b12 teams. Most of them will be released into gen pop in ~8 years anyway. Their (all but ou & ut) days are numbered.

I hope the Big XII stays at 10 members and the AAC continues to get stronger as a group. With nationally ranked teams in both football and bball, maybe we can actually earn a bigger slice of the pie. Imagine that possibility while remembering that when the Big East existed, there were 6 "power" conferences. SMU football needs to do it's part.

The AAC will not get a bigger slice of the pie nor will they expand to a Power 6 conference. I could actually see them trying to shrink the Power 5 conferences to Power 4.

Just saw a lot of baseless crock spew out of your mouth.
The "Power 5" are such because of their TV deals. If the old Big East was bidding 150M a year for a TV deal then this new AAC with much better football teams should bid equally especially with the advances the conf has made the past few years. ESPN isnt the only network out there fyi.
