Other than Ohio State it looks like the Tulsa offense is averaging about 50 a game. Definitely not an automatic win. Maybe the short week will do SMU good because the team has to forget the Temple loss quickly and move on to this game.

They had a bye this past week

Exactly. This is the real game to measure where SMU is as a team, not the Temple game.

Tulsa was a struggling team prior to Montgomery's arrival. 2 and 3 wins the previous 2 years. Montgomery showed up the same year as Morris. Tulsa is not bigger, stronger, or faster than SMU (Rebel10's favorite excuse). SMU has recruited better the last 2 years. Fans are apathetic in Tulsa as well. Facilities about the same. Montgomery somehow figured out how to win 6 games his first year. This game should be an even contest and a barometer of progress.

What will the excuses be this week, if things don't go well? (Injuries, bigger/faster/stronger, just need 2 more recruiting classes, next year.......)

Maybe Montgomery is the real offensive guru, with the more immediate P5 coaching future?

Tulsa might not be Temple, but they do have a Sr QB and upper class guys at skill positions so they will have a significant edge experience wise. I expect us to be more competitive, but this is not a game I expect our guys to have any chance of winning. Eventually our team will prove me wrong, but I'm still just hoping for year over year improvement which for me means 3-4 wins this year and no 63-0 losses.

I was referring to the fact that SMU had a short week this week so that they would have to quickly forget about the Temple loss.

At no time in the 10+ years that I have followed SMU football have I considered any game an automatic win.

Only time I have thought a game to be an automatic win is when we play an FCS team like Liberty or James Madi... oops, never mind.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

lol at Tulsa being an automatic win. We are playing too many young ones and are too battered up to consider anyone an automatic win. I'd be happy if we win 2 more, but am only expecting one more win.
