BYU trailing 14-10 to Boise in 2nd Q had 4th and 19 from its own 3 yard line and calls a fake punt with the punter 8 yards deep in the endzone. Based on the blocking of the 3 punt blockers it was called from the sideline. Punter would have had to run 30 yards to get a First Down. Barely got out of endzone. Wow

Nevertheless Boise couldn't score from the 3 and just threw its 2nd Pick-6 and now trails BYU 17-14

Didn't we do that at Tulane in either late PB or early June era?

Tulane did it against us and it also backfired. Turned the game around for us giving us a win.

Army had an insane fake punt earlier in the year - 4th and 44. But, they were up big and it was unlikely to matter given the time left on the clock.

Thank you. I guess in my mind, there's an automatic default which makes smu the misdoer of poor play calling or recipient of nonsensical calls or circumstance
