Hiring Student Athletes

Was at a SMU career event the other night as my firm is looking to hire a number of SMU students. Several of those interested are current student athletes. While I don't write the big checks, I'm sure I qualify as a booster. I'm sure others have been in the same boat, anything to consider when hiring or offering intern roles?

I would sure contact the compliance officer just to be sure. I think it could be an issue.

If you are recruiting through the school and treat them like other potential hires, everything should be fine.

As long as they are showing up and doing actual work, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm not sure if you can pay them though.
