Maybe they were a bit over confident after Tulsa put a beat down on Memphis. Again, I believe we will be fine in the long run.

this team over confident? I think it might have been the other way around, with memories of last year's 63-0 beating in the back of their minds.

There are so many lessons to be learned from this game that I am not sure they can learn all of them. We will get a good insight as to the character of this team and the capabilities of the staff based no what happens in the next game. Need a crystal ball as what might happen.

Ready for another chance to go 1-0 next week at East Carolina.

I kinda think we learned a lot about the team, our coaching staff and the teams character in this game.

I think I'm glad I ignored this website yesterday. Rebuilding is not a straight line. It took Ron Meyer 5 years to turn the program around. The nucleus of the players who are going to turn the program around are the 45-48 sophomores/redshirt and medical redshirt freshman and true freshman on the roster. 4-8 was pretty much expected even with a Senior QB and an emerging returning starter at RB. We are learning more about some of our "fans".

3 embarrassing loses in Ron Meyer's SECOND Year despite 2 improved recruiting classes

NTSU 14-23 (One of first losses to NTSU in SMU History)
Texas Tech 7-45
Arkansas 7-47

Learning to win is something I've heard repeated here, along with "this is a young team"...let's hope the Mustangs have short memories about this past weekend's effort, and keep getting better than the week before.

This week against ECU, that should not be hard to do.

I would expect ECU to be a substantial favorite in that game

haven't looked but 6-8 points on the road

UPDATE: Opened at 5 but now at 7

Most were expecting 3 to 4 wins this year. SMU has 4. They had a bad game. It happens. For a team that is in the process of a total rebuild they are in good shape.

This team is young and it shows on the field. If they win 5 games this year, will be positive for Morris in his second year. We need a mobile QB that fits his offense, and a lot more experience on defense, especially a linebacker.

4 wins this year and a win against Houston is already a huge positive. I'm just hopeful we can compete in these next 3 games and don't end the season with multiple consecutive blowouts because we are going to be facing an ECU team that is tough at home and two of the best teams in our league for our final 2 home games

Yesterday showed that the UH victory was much more like SMU's 35-31 victory over Arkansas in 1976 rather than SMU's victory over UT in 1980. This team is still climbing but the players that are going to get us there are still pups. Its more of a statement game to sell recruits than it is a statement that we have arrived

Right. It is about the players but young and inexperienced not the staff.
