No loss of scholarships. Is the one year of probation a bowl ban?

It's so funny to see all of the golden domers whining about this like Mike Golic Jr. on ESPN and saying "but it was self-reported" blah blah blah when all of their excuses are the exact same as we have for basketball - yet they don't lose anything real at all.
Total BS.

I heard the NCAA considered imposing a retroacitve scholarship reduction for the 2009 season but decided that would be too severe.

Here we go again with NCAA ridiculous inconsistent punishments. Someone please help me understand why SMU cannot creatively bring this to the attention of the media. Seems to me that the NCAA's findings with Notre Dame (help with coursework) are comparable to what was found at SMU and Frazier. Between the NCAA not punishing North Carolina, Louisville, and now Notre Dame... Once again SMU is faced with being punished by a different set of rules. How can SMU ever compete on the same playing field when our school is punished by a different set of rules.
Someone please stand up to the NCAA. Why don't our big time SMU alums, SMU coaches, or SMU administration step up and stand up to the NCAA?

Considering what happened, it was the hammer.
How is a school supposed to prevent cheating? When I was at SMU, half the kids in my ethics exam were cheating off each other on the final.

Having a rep of the athletic department assist with grades. Sounds familiar to me other than the punishment.
