What if....Chad to Baylor....falls apart?....Then what?

what if this turns out sort of like the Arizona State June Jones fiasco?
lets say like Channel 5 KXAS says it's 95% done
but what if something causes it to unravel this weekend
then what?....do we just pretend nothing happened and all is well?
how will SMU fans, SMU donors, SMU players, and recruits react to the fact that Chad was willing to leave SMU, but it fell through?
if you were a recruit and you know he tried to leave, but now he says "son you need to come to SMU".....how well is that going to go over?
what will his his off-season and Fall 2017 season be like?
would most just be "thankful he stayed another year"?
would most be "gun-shy" that we go through all this again next year if we win 6 or more games?
i guess either way he gets a raise?....a bit odd...you wanted to leave...but it didn't work out...so here's a big raise?
i like Chad and hope he stays....but heck that is not going to exactly be pretty either is it?

This is nothing like June at least from what we have seen. He has actively recruited for us and put together a decent class. To my knowledge he has not walked out on recruits and met with Baylor reps. He has not to my knowledge told recruits to commit to Baylor while still the coach at SMU.
I see nothing different here than what happens in most all coaching searches. If he stays and gets a raise I will be happy. If he goes, I will hope we can hang on to some of our recruits, and make a good hire.

I agree this is totally different. I am perfectly fine with Chad staying personally.

Baylor alum here...I doubt Morris campaigned for the job. If I were an SMU fan and he remains the Head Coach, then great. I think you guys could have a really good season next year. Frankly, our situation is a mess, and will require a good and patient head coach. We will see how this all plays out. This is the first time in 30 plus years of following Baylor football that I am ready for the season to be over.
