Courtland Sutton earns preseason All-America honors

Sutton Named Preseason All-American
DALLAS (SMU) – SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been named a preseason second-team All-American by Athlon Sports, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Sutton, a preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection by the outlet, was a first-team all-AAC selection in 2016, and was named to both the Biletnikoff Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award preseason watch lists.
During a standout sophomore season, Sutton set SMU's single-game record for receiving yards at 252, and also topped the list for receiving yards in a season by a sophomore at 1,246. Nationally, Sutton finished among the top-20 in receiving yards per game, receiving yards and receptions per game, while leading the team in receiving yards, receptions (76) and receiving touchdowns (10).
SMU opens the 2017 season on Sept. 2 against Stephen F. Austin at Ford Stadium. The Mustangs' home slate features seven games including 2016 bowl teams Tulsa, UCF, Arkansas State and North Texas. Also visiting the Hilltop will be American Athletic Conference foes Tulane and Connecticut. Season tickets are still available for as little as $99.
