Your pick?
I've got DJ Gillins.

Ramon Flanigan. He's back, right?

Hicks.
He's not getting bumped until midseason, if at all.

Ok. I will say Peavy just so we can have a real competition.
In reality I think Hicks will be the first game starter, but the future may be different.

Hicks will start, but Gillins and/or Peavy will play.
We probably won't know the long term starter until the TCU game.

It's Hicks to lose (via injury, attitude, violation of team rules, etc.) based on experience. Big transition from the practice field to the opponents defense and the game day environment with 4729 people watching kids roll down the hill. If the staff feels one of the others has surpassed him, with no game experience, then we could be in for a very exciting season.

If someone other than Hicks starts the first game he will have made a very good impression

As long as we are 3-1 in those first four.

It would be a shocker if it isn't Hicks against SFA.

I thought both Hicks and Peavy struggled in the spring. I really like how DJ stayed involved, but he will be behind. Making this a decision of who is the best as opposed to the least worst will determine how far the team goes this season.

In the Spring game:
Peavy was 16 for 18 for 173 yards and 2 TD's including a 58 yard TD pass
Hicks was 11 for 17 for 114 yards and a score on what was a very windy day in Dallas.

Exclude the 58 yard outlier and you get:
Peavy 15/17 for 115
Hicks 11 / 17 for 114
