Braeden West named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List

West Named To Paul Hornung Award Watch List
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (SMU) – SMU junior Braeden West has been named to the 2017 Paul Hornung Award Watch List, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Monday.
To be eligible for the award, a player must play multiple positions on offense and/or multiple positions on defense, demonstrating an extreme, high-level of versatility.
West played in 12 games in 2016, starting eight, and was one of three Mustangs with at least 1,000 all-purpose yards, totaling 1,128. His 1,036 rushing yards rank 14th at SMU, while his career-high 220 rushing yards in the Mustangs' win over Liberty were the fifth-most on the SMU single-game list. He posted six games with 100+ all-purpose yards, and added 92 receiving yards on the season.
West was one of seven Mustangs to be named to Athlon Sport's Preseason All-American Athletic Conference team, earning first-team offensive honors.
The list will be narrowed down to finalists on Nov. 9, with the award winner announced Dec. 6. The official awards banquet takes place March 7 in Louisville. For more information on the award visit www.paulhornungaward.com
