great time of year...great Mustang memories...

Postby peruna81 » Thu Aug 24, 2017 7:46 am

Saw several, including the SMU-Baylor game in November of 1966. SMU won the game 24-22, including heroics by LeVias and Dennis Partee...

watched "The Kickoff Return" in Jones Stadium, right after Tech tied the game, and SMU "untied" it. Quiet. Wonderful.

Saw "The Block" against the Longhorns that sealed that win...yeah, it was nice to hear the Mustang Band play "Peruna" a million times, while hacking off Bevo fans.

Funny how you remember great games THIS time of year, and not the heartaches...it's time for some Mustang football!

Remember our cheerleader dropping the aggie corpsmen on the 20 yard line at Kyle Field.
Remember beating Tulsa to earn our first bowl game in decades.
Putting a whooping on Houston - Still fresh and it might have been a dream.
Go Mustangs.

I was traveling, and listening to play by play in an airport. I went bananas when the sack sealed the game.

I thought they were going to send over security.

The ball ended up in the stands when the sacking player launched it after the play.

Edit: Watched the highlight, maybe not. What game am I thinking of?

Edit dos: Found it

That SMU team looks like the 72 Dolphins compared to what I've seen the past 5 years.

For us younger fans, our season opener memories consist of Big 12 blowouts of barely squeaking by cupcake teams

Don't forget the 1-point last few seconds victory over Montana State.

My dream season before I go on to eternity is that we play UT or Baylor again, and curb-stomp them.
My life will be made complete.

Didn't they lead the whole game then we kicked a field goal on the last play?

They led the whole game then GG threw a TD pass to Darius Joseph to give us the lead 31-30. Montana State had enough time left to run one more play after the kickoff.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
