Wow! I did not know that Chuck Hixson still holds the career passing yards record at SMU. Although Hayden Fry was ahead of the curve on modernizing the passing game that is unbelievable considering how the game of football has changed. Maybe we should dust off Fry's "Flying Wishbone" that only lasted about 3 games. It also is a testament to how many of our career passing leaders have been transfers either into or out of SMU

One more game with the flying wishbone and our QB would have been dead. A tight end is kind of important it was learned.

What makes that record even more amazing is that they had Freshman football in Hixon's day, so he had to achieve those stats in only 3 seasons. Didn't they have different mascot/names for the teams in those days? I seem to remember playing the shorthorns in Ownby.

We were the Colorful Colts and the 1968 class is having a 49 year reunion tomorrow night.
