SMU Opponents with Extra Weeks Off

Last night, USF and Uconn cancelled the game scheduled for tomorrow. It will not be rescheduled. Because Miami refused to travel to Arkansas State this weekend, it means two of SMU's early opponents (not the teams impacted by the Hurricane) will have an extra week off to prepare for the game.
Since it is early in the season, it will be interesting to see of the extra week off helps Arkansas State and Uconn or hurts them.
While Uconn isn't very good, Arkansas State is not a patsy. If SMU doesn't play well, they could easily lose.

Technically ASU has an extra week to prepare for UAPB. [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Having a bye week does not guarantee a win.

Last year's SMU week off came before the UH game. It didn't hurt.

Last time we played AS they had a cancelled game with Memphis and then beat us 45-28. Expect to see their coaches in the stands this week.

I don't think a bye week this early is an advantage unless in unique situations where a team has key injuries. I'd rather have another week of improvement/experience for young players

Again, they do play another game before us. It is against a weak opponent and will help them prepare.
