I would say without a doubt Ben Hicks will be the QB for next 2 & half years. Does anyone see a chance where one of the others could help at a different position. CM will need to get a QB recruit at least by next year to redshirt. But one of the current Backups will not see much playing time going forward. The next 5 Games will be tuff and I just don't see a lot of minutes for 2 backups. Any thoughts

Rafe and DJ were recruited as insurance against injury and to push Hicks with legit competition. We have a 3 star commited and enrolling early who will be the heir apparent to Hicks

Hicks has a 70% completion rate in the last 3 games unless he really regress in the future his job is safe.

They should try to find a way to retrain DJ and Peavy to be defensive players! If sutton can go from Safety to WR, it can be possible!

Except that both those guys came to SMU for the opportunity to play QB at the D-1 FBS level and I doubt they want to abandon that goal

Im aware they were recruited to push Hicks & possibly take his place. But now I don't see either taking his spot. Not sure what they are classed, transfer and sitting out a year. But they are not Soph, so I hate to see two players that have Talent waste away on the sideline. Just thought the #3 could possibly help somewhere. Going to take a major Upset but Im still thinking 8 wins!!!

I was making a frivolous suggestion.

wouldn't be surprised to see DJ still ued in wildcat and other random formations at times throughout the next two years.

The backups are one slide/injury away from being a starter. Circumstances change from minute to minute.

They should find a way to get Brewer to transfer out of Baylor and into SMU where he belonged.

DJ should be getting 1-2 possessions per game regardless of opponent. It's a good change up. Forces the other team to gameplan for something else. And as great as Hicks has been this year, it's not a bad idea to have him watch the opposing defense with CM on the sideline for one possession each game.

It makes sense for short yardage in the red zone-doesn't make much sense otherwise as Hicks is a pretty darn good 3rd/4th Down QB

Would help if he hadn’t been hurt for a month.

Coach is shifting to Freeman in Wildcat formation on short yardage situations. Gives more of an element of surprise than bringing in DJ, where defense prepares for him to run.
