Impressive. Ramon gave some of we old timers a tour of the facility and you can easily tell this is a place where they are building more than just a football team. Lots of care and attention to them as people getting ready to enter the real world.

knock on wood-but our entire athletic program is representing the university better than at any time I remember
May not mean much to some but it does to me

Me too. I was most impressed with the stressing of so much non-football related stuff. These young men are being well managed by this coaching staff. Considering most will never play after they leave being ready for life is important.

I've always thought that an SMU Athletic Hall of Fame for Post-Graduate Achievement would be very interesting to me and would emphasize the importance of athletics in building a well-rounded citizen and community leaders. It would be open to all sports and not based on athletic achievements.

I was just thinking about this earlier today - how little we hear about off the field problems from any of our athletes. Sure, a few people leave, but you have guys like Courtland (and J Lawler) and Shake and Jarrey and Semi who are elite athletes and you never hear(d) of any issues (in the classroom or otherwise). THAT's what I love most about my alma mater's athletic program. Just proves you can have BOTH, unlike many places.
Pony up!

I think June must go to project-teams because he is very good at installing an us-against-them or chip-on-the-shoulder culture...and it works for the most part, but it’s easy to understand why it was more effortless to maintain at Hawaiii vs SMU...and if he didn’t stoke that culture, it’s easy to see how that could regress to some bad football.
Chad came here with a we-should-be-winners-now mentality which is emphasizes discipline and will last more long-term as long as a) we start putting skins on the wall, 2) Morris’ eventual replacement shares the same mindset. In my mind this should make the hiring interview questions much more simple.

Just think. Our best team since the DP could be next year with these recruits. The training and culture changes can pay off with or without CM taking a step up in his career.
