adding 2 levels of Suites on East Side
Amon G. Carter Stadium Expansion – project scope calls for two new levels of luxury seating above the current upper deck. The expansion will include premium-level seating up to 1,500 seats and as many as 20 suites. Construction is targeted to commence May 2018 with completion prior to the start of the 2019 football season.

That is a money expansion, not an increased seating expansion. And that is a good thing for them.

Most fans would have been happy with a new awning/roof to cover the east stands for those ridiculously hot day games in September and early October.

Having sat in the SMU stadium club seats several times, and in a suite once, I just prefer to be out in the stadium. Mixed drinks and the food is a plus, but still not the same watching a game up there. Not to mention SMU has so few fans that it would be nice if a big chunk of our fans weren’t behind glass unable to make noise.

Ponyscott, if you think that margaritas and scotch and water and old fashioned and gimlets and vodka sours and beer are not "adult beverages," you are right. But if you consider any of these "adult beverages," you are wrong. You can find anything you want in the club levels, but not even beer in the ordinary peoples' stands. Rich Frog fans can order anything they want. Poor folk can order diet cokes.

do we know how many are in the SMU fish tanks? If they were outside of the glass and in the stadium seats would attendance look better? I assume if some of them had to sit in the actual stadium, they would find something better to do so we would lose some folks.
Also curious what the ratio is between suite seating vs stadium seating across ours and other venues.
I would assume TCU probably has a waiting list for suites and are investing/building with a positive ROI - thanks to evaluation from a SMU COX MBA.
I wonder if we have approached some of our new/expanded corporate neighbors for interest/investment in additional suites at SMU - Toyota, Liberty Mutual, State Farm, etc. with the understanding the experience is initially more about the social aspects and networking than fandom, which would hopefully develop.

We are relegated to poor folk as we are not on the club levels, is the point.

Pony, correct me, but does any school serve cocktails and hard liquor drinks in their concession stands for everyone? I had assumed this type of service was available only to the "club" folk.

More suites, less general seating equals more revenue and less people on the concourse

Club level is heavily populated by people in their 70s and 80s many of whom probably wouldn't or couldn't sit out in the heat.

Wouldn't, maybe, but not couldn't.

Many couldn't. I am one of them.
