1. We did not lose our coach to Baylor.
2. We made it to a bowl game and locked in a winning season.
3. Aside from Oregon we are the premiere opening in the country and many of the top targets are still available.
4. We're not where we want to be but thank goodness we're not where we were.

Baylor only won 1 game (they got to play Kansas).

Another silver lining item

We have a short drive to Frisco for the bowl to vent our frustration.

Good restaurants, bars and tailgating there.

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE.

(wouldn't hurt recruiting to party hard in Frisco)

You've already eluded in your comments but we actually have a talented player pool comparatively to when Chad came on for the new coach. The right hire will take us to the next step and hopefully the third coach will feel more cemented if we are playing at the top of the AAC.

There hasn't been a silver lining with the football program in 30 years.

The namesake city for the Bowl SMU is in didn't exist 30 years ago

Seriously think back to 1987 and what would you have thought if someone had told you SMU was going to the Frisco Bowl in Frisco Texas

We lost a head coach whose defence surrendered 66 points, including 32 first downs and 664 yards total offence, to the University of Memphis. They also beat SMU 51-7 in our homecoming game in 2016.

May be finally time for us to elevate an assistant like Oregon did. Been a long time since we did so. I'll take Traylor any day especially since the players really like him and he just might stay here for a long time too.

I probably would have made the trip to the game then!

Unless we hire a big time coordinator, we aren't going to get an ESPN article about promoting through the ranks.

One silver lining. We are not Tulane which, as I recall, voluntarily left the SEC!
