I agree. It is what it is. Nobody knows how this is going to go. There is promise, though, from his previous stops. How about embracing the guy and hope he wants to take us to the next level, instead of giving up on SMU like many of you are doing to him before he even is announced.

We are not LSU, Alabama, A&M or even Arkansas. Our fanbase deserves nothing. If you look at this hire objectively, especially based on the available candidates, there is certainly more to be hopeful about than not with Sonny Dykes.

We have done a helluva lot worse over the years. I think he has some good experiences under his belt. He isn't a splash hire but I think a solid hire. Hopefully he will do well and get hired away in 3 years. That would mean we did well and are contiuning to improve.

The goal for us is t hre well enough that others hire our coach away until we get a Fatterson type.
