Potential DC's1. Pete Golding DC/CB, UTSA - The roadrunners have the #2 Overall Defense in FBS, behind only Alabama.
"Golding has tutored six All-Americans during his 10-year coaching career, including 2012 FCS Defensive Player of the Year and 2013 second-round National Football League draft pick Robert Alford, who was a cornerback under Golding during his senior season. Meanwhile, 18 players at Delta State were named to the All-Gulf South Conference and All-South Region teams during his tenure, while six Tusculum defenders received All-South Atlantic Conference accolades." http://goutsa.com/coaches.aspx?rc=728&path=football 2. Terry Price, formerly Texas A&M Defensive Ends coach. http://12thman.com/coaches.aspx?rc=795&path=football "An excellent recruiter, Price was named a Rivals.com Top 25 recruiter in the nation in 2014 and 247 Sports.com named Price the No. 12 overall recruiter in the country the same year. Price has brought 5-star DL talent such as Myles Garrett (2014), Daylon Mack (2015) and Justin Madubuike (2016) to Aggieland." 3. Lance Guidry HC/DC, McNeese St. Currently serving in both Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator positions. http://www.mcneesesports.com/coaches.as ... h=football "Guidry spearheaded a defense that ended the season ranked No. 1 in the FCS in rushing with a school and Southland Conference record 54.5 yards per game allowed. That average is also ranked as the seventh-lowest amount allowed in the history of the FCS. 4. Chad Walker, previously OLB at Arkansas. Has previous DC experience. http://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/coache/chad-walker/ "With Walker at the helm of the defense, the Bulldogs finished 7-4 in 2010 with the two biggest wins in school history over Fordham and No. 25 Robert Morris. Bryant led the Northeast Conference (NEC) in pass efficiency defense and third down defense, while ranking second in the league in turnovers gained. The Bulldogs also returned four interceptions for touchdowns on the year. Walker guided safety Max Machado to Northeast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, while cornerback Samad Wagstaff and linebacker Jason Riffe, who led the league with seven sacks, were All-NEC selections." 5. Jason Washington, Texas Recruiting Coordinator and CB Coach. http://texassports.com/coaches.aspx?rc= ... h=football "Throughout his career, Washington has coached seven players who have reached the NFL. At UH, Washington was also the Cougars’ special teams coordinator. Washington helped the Houston defense to a national ranking of 14th during the 2016 regular season. The Cougars had five defensive touchdowns and allowed just 22.6 points per game. CB Howard Wilson led UH with five interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. Houston’s defense totaled seven interceptions and 49 pass breakups" BONUS: Possible Special Teams coach, cause we sure as heck need one: Jeff Banks, formerly of Texas A&M: 12thman.com/coaches.aspx?rc=790&path=football
Re: Potential DC'sBreak the bank and hire Pete Golding!
Re: Potential DC'sI think they should get a TCU defensive coach over here to run the defense.
#HammerDown
Re: Potential DC'sIf we had a top 75 defense this year we would have won three more games.
Spend for the best on. I do not know that person but WE NEED IT. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: Potential DC'shate to say this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we kept Malone and his defensive staff.....
Re: Potential DC'sLet's beat Chad to getting Venables

Re: Potential DC'sAre these real options or is this a wish list?
Re: Potential DC'sJust some options.
Re: Potential DC's
Would not be shocking at all...especially if players love him. Regrdless of who coaches the D next year, we really need our current players to mature and for Dykes to find a couple of impact players somewhere. Would be nice if he had a line on some grad transfers
Re: Potential DC'sor good j.c. players.
Re: Potential DC'sWhat about Tracy Claeys? He was lights out against spread teams at Minnesota.
Re: Potential DC'sIn the presser, it sounds like Van is gone after the bowl. Said they're searching for best DC possible.

Re: Potential DC'sNo DC will be able to immediately over come our lack of size, speed, strength and talent on the D side. Unfortunately, this will all take time, luck and some great recruiting. Our only hope for next season is that the O remains potent and can win some games despite the D being over matched.
Re: Potential DC'spicking up a few grad transfers or j.c. players could really help next year.
Re: Potential DC'sHave good depth on DL, safety and corner. LB is the main issue, as it has been for years.
