East Texas vs West Texas football

Sony Dykes is from West Texas, Chad Morris from East Texas.
Chad stated he would concentrate in the Dallas area and I recall, favored East Texas football. Now we have Dykes who is from West Texas.
I did not grow up in Texas, can someone explain the football difference between the two?

East Texas tends to have better athletes. Bill Yeoman used to just hang out in East Texas. Ron Myer liked East Texas too.

Sonny D. will recruit East Texas also. Pearce High, Navarro and La Tech. East Texas relationships.

Its more that there a ton more kids in East Texas. West Texas just doesn't have as many people.

Well if I learned anything from Friday Night Lights is that there are some damn good kids in West Texas (in the 80s! :p )

I'm almost the last person from West Texas. Only about 400 people left
