Brown Named NFF Gridiron Club of Dallas Collegiate Scholar-Athlete

IRVING, Texas – SMU's Evan Brown was one of seven players selected as a 2018 National Football Foundation (NFF) Gridiron Club of Dallas Collegiate Scholar-Athlete, the organization announced Monday.

A four-year starter for the Mustangs, Brown earned his undergraduate degree at SMU in finance and is currently working toward his master's in the same field. Brown started all 13 games at center his senior season and was a Campbell Trophy Semifinalist as well as an All-American Athletic Conference honorable mention selection.

Brown has twice been named to the Rimington Award Watch List, while earning a spot on the Outland Trophy list as a senior.

During his time on the Hilltop, Brown participated in numerous community service activities including Children's Hospital visits, Habitat for Humanity events, Relay for Life and various youth clinics.

Selected from a pool of candidates that covers the entire region, the seven collegiate and 60 high school players earned NFF chapter scholar-athlete recognition in 2018 after a rigorous review. The selection committee, comprised of coaches, teachers, administrators and business leaders from North Texas, evaluated the college and high school candidates based on their athletic accomplishments, academic performance and leadership in the community.

Scholar-athletes will be honored for their accomplishments during the chapter's 10th Annual Awards Banquet Sunday, March 18, at 6 p.m. CT at the Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum by the Galleria.

Hayden Fry, who will receive the organization's Legends Award, will also be honored at the event.
