Wow. I thought Carolina had Gilbert slated to be the #2.

Taylor Heinicke out of Old Dominion who was cut by the Texans came in and looked really good so I guess he will back up Cam Newton this year

I don't watch pre-season NFL games but this was surprising. I assume Bailey has never fully recovered from last year's injury...either that or the kid (can't really call him a kid at age 28) from Nebraska REALLY impressed them.

Looks like Lawler and Brown are ok. Sutton and Quinn never in doubt.

that 'kid' from Nebraska has never performed under the NFL pressure-cooker so it must be injury related.
CP, who are you rooting for next week, Panthers or Cowboys?

After the injury, Bailey was struggling to get touchbacks even more than he had before.
With the new rules on coverage where the cover team has to start from a stand-still, touchbacks are super important now. I think that played a big part in the decision, on top of salary. The Cowboys are going to need to pick up a free agent at safety, TE and on the OL and needed to free up some cap space to do it.

Have been a Cowboys fan since they started in 1960. We were neighbors of Tom Landry (and Hayden Fry) in those days, so I will pull for "The 'Boys" but don't expect them to win here with their walking wounded OL. Will be watching with a neighborhood group that will be 2/3 Panthers and 1/3 Cowboys fans. Will have fun regardless of the outcome.

Sterling Moore cut by Detroit.
Big shout-out to Evan Brown for making the Giants as an undrafted free agent.

Saw a report that LeRibeus resigned with the Saints
