“TCU’s down by 15+ people will leave. TCU’s up by 15+, people will leave. We just don’t have that many die-hard fans. It’s an unsolvable issue. Unless it’s a close game or a big name school, it’s more of a social engagement for a few hours than a football game. Sad reality.”

Sounds familiar

Ok, he’s now blamed everyone in Fort Worth but himself.

Because it’s just football. If its hot or taking long or if you just have something else going on then go so something else. I’m a fan but I’m not living my life around every play of a game of 20 year olds.

Well of course. According to Patterson, hes only lost once in 2005. The other losses were due to refs (2011) and the OC and fan support (2019).

Now to his argument, TCU fans really looked like fair weather fans. They know they're a 4th quarter team. They could have stayed but they thought they were going to lose by 2 TDs and had no faith.

And this is exactly why so many people view SMU & TCU as "sister schools", i.e., our students and alums being so much alike. I liked the response from one "fan" about their being "entitled" to a better product/showing/result on the field. TCU is very fortunate to be where they are in the Big XII but their fans are as spoiled and entitled as a lot of those associated with SMU.

Boy, Gary may never get over this loss.

First its his Offensive Coordinator, then it his teams emotional let down after Purdue, then it was the fact Sonny knew his sideline signals ("I guess I need to change my signals"), now its his fans.

Gary! 41 Points! 41 Points! your defense "sucked" and you're responsible.

Patterson is a great coach, but he's gone nuts! If he keeps blaming others, he going to lose his team this year, in addition to his staff. I was hoping TCU would go undefeated the rest of the year, but now I have serious doubts they will play up to their potential.

Basically whining like a five year old that TCU fans left at halftime and that some sold their tickets on the secondary market to SMU fans so they weren't confined to the nosebleeds where they belong. Apparently seeing red and blue is triggering for him. I almost expected him to pull a TCU fan from a tailgate and make him talk to reporters after the game.

He had 41,000 TCU fans there, could you imagine 41,000 SMU fans at Ford? I can only hope!

that has to be "tickets sold" and not butts in seats.

The stadium seats 50k and it appeared on tv there were may more than 9k empty seats.

Yeah, they have a problem not with selling tickets but getting people in the stadium.

Sound familiar?

1) We don't need to make fun of anyone on attendance.

2) They should be grateful. The dihards for any team will always be limited to the alumni. Their diehard base is only larger than ours right now because they have been winning. The max base for them is lower than ours. Right now our diehards sit at around 8K. with consistent winning, we can probably get that up to 15K - 20K. Theirs is much lower than that. When GP leaves eventually, they will find that out.

3) 50K is too big for them. I hope we never get our stadium above 35-40K. As we start to build a pattern of winning now, our diehards will pull up to 15-20K and we will sell out 25K on a regular basis. But it will be nice to have the stadium at least half full during a bad season. If we play a huge opponent, we can do a money grab at Jerry World if we need to.
