... does anyone know the contract status of Rhett Lashlee and Kevin Kane?

If they're on one-year deals like so many other assistant coaches, should conversations be held NOW about locking them up?

If a bigger school wants to pry them away, they probably can. But if we’re losing assistants to bigger programs then it is what it is — means we’re doing something right. And Sonny seems to be well-respected and have a lot of connections in the coaching community, so I don’t think he’d have a problem finding a quality replacement.

It does seem like the entire coaching staff thoroughly enjoys being at SMU. Sonny also wanting to stay gives them job security. They all have families, so I would imagine that is important.

I would think that staying at a non p5 school is a lot more attractive when we are winning and being in the top 25.

provided they are all paid a competitive salary; these guys have families to provide for and the working hours are brutal, so you want to be paid well

It's a mark of respect when big schools come calling for your coaches, but I'd love to see ours stay in place for a few years and see what they can really build.

Beat Tulsa!
