SMU football head coach Sonny Dykes and wide receiver James Proché met the media Monday to talk about the Mustangs' bye week, the team's ability to handle the attention that comes along with an undefeated start, how the team's fast start and national ranking have been received on the recruiting trail and to look ahead to Saturday's home game agains Temple.

Like Sonny says: "this thing could turn very quickly". We could easily lose this game to Temple and it certainly appears that Navy, Memphis and Tulane are all really good this year. Going on the road to Houston in a short week will be no picnic either. I could see these guys limping home at 4-4 in conference play and finishing 8-4 but that would still be a successful season in my mind, especially considering what my expectations were coming into this season.

IF... we play"toughass" SMU football we can win the Temple game. We have the players and the coaches to win. My question is do we have the discipline to focus and execute.

With 90 new players on the team that have bought into the Dykes vison... this is not the battered mustang syndrome. This team IS good and just how good depends on mental toughness.

Would love to read what NATE says.
