Houston looked awful against UConn, especially on D. I think we blow them off the field. Sonny seems to have this team understanding we have to focus every week.

I think we will struggle early and it will be 17-10 SMU.

This is how it should be. With my previous mentions of the rivalry, the vengeance of a mediocre SMU knocking off top 15 Houston twice, they will be gunning for us.

All I know is that we beat them twice when they came into Ford ranked and heavily favored. Time to break that streak of losses down there, though, so I will go with 38-27 Mustangs. Xavier Jones gets 2 more TDs in front of his home crowd

Houston is a hard team to gauge, I thought they'd just fall off the cliff with the weirdness of King and a few others redshirting (and now the coach's son is playing QB) and their record suggests that. BUT as everyone else has written, they always beat us there and they always seem to just have better athletes. I'm hoping for the weather to clear. It will be prime time on ESPN and we'll be showing off the Dallas uniform so we really need to have a great showing. Pony UP! No rain - 42-35 SMU. Rain 24-21 SMU.

Hard to know who Houston will have at QB. Holgorsen played most of the UConn game because Tune (who filled in well for King) was nursing a hammy. Probably helps Houston if conditions are sloppy Thursday

Was a Phil Bennett coached SMU team in 2005 the last time we beat them in football down in Houston?

Ponies win by 21. This could easily be a trap game but I think HCSD will have them focused and ready to win.

I am worried about this game, but I’m worried about every game. I’m taking my sons to Memphis and I’d love to get to that game unbeaten. A win in Memphis is a huge ask, but this Houston game is a big rivalry game and would be a huge statement for an 8th win. That Houston team is always loaded with athletes.
