and the first Sonny Dykes coaching rumor (however unlikely) I've seen. Hmm.
Cincinnati 14, Memphis 15, SMU 16

Can't imagine the administration letting him go, but SMU has been known for athletic mismanagement & incompetence.

Can't imagine Arkansas telling their fans, just at the moment, to welcome their new head coach, who is from SMU. But I'd be curious what our Arkansans think about this.

Based on special teams play, it’s a miracle we are even ranked.

Taggart is available if Arkansas wants someone with P5 experience

There's no way Arkansas takes him. They have a significant debt with Chad and taking on Sonny with the risk that theyre taking another "SMU" product. I don't think Sonny would want the job anyways simply because his biggest marketing scheme of getting talent is "coming home". Hard to do that in the middle of nowhere Arkansas.

He's not going anywhere. He and his family are home

One thing about SonnyD is that he has done the p5 thing and didn't fare so well. He has a chance to be an icon here.

sonny can become our gary patterson (without the issues). Let's hope he can become as successful (or more so) and stay for the long term.

When the right job comes along there won't be anything the administration can do to keep him.

But they sure can create an environment that would make him want to leave.

My main concern is what might happen if Texas Tech came calling and offered to significantly increase his pay. Don't know whether Dallas or Lubbock is "home" but ultimately any coach at this level knows he is one bad season away from having his job in jeopardy.

CP, I honestly think it depends on the state of the Tech program but I think a million times over he loves living in the city or burbs of a real city. If Tech made an offer he couldn't refuse then maybe but I think he does like it here. Its low pressure and hes already being lavished as the 2nd coming lol.

Did y’all not see the picture during the game of Dykes wearing an SMU shirt? SMU is his team, he wants to be here, and his wife and kids want to be in Highland Park. He has already coached a P5 school and it sounds like the family was miserable.
Though, SMU is dumb enough to not even offer a raise.
