Samples said he has won only one game by fewer than 20 points

There are probably 50 requests sitting in Ra’Shaad Samples’ various inboxes, all of them hoping to get a chance to play him.
While most coaches are doing everything they can to get the attention of the best high school football players, those players are hitting up the SMU assistant coach, hoping to take him down in a video game.
Recruiting in college athletics has been brought to a halt in many ways. It’s a dead period until the end of May, at least. Coaches can’t visit athletes. Athletes can’t visit schools. Phone calls, Zoom sessions, virtual campus tours are what most coaches are doing now.
But Samples, 25, isn’t most coaches. He’s played a large role in SMU building a stronghold in Dallas-area recruiting. And he’s doing it in an era of social distancing by crushing everyone in Madden.
