SMU: 5 student-athletes test positive for COVID-19

DALLAS (SMU) - As part of its Healthy Return Plan, SMU Athletics tested all 75 student-athletes across multiple sports who voluntarily returned to campus this week for off-season workouts. Of those 75, five tested positive for COVID-19. All five were asymptomatic.
The five individuals who tested positive will remain in isolation for two weeks. The isolated student-athletes will be monitored via daily Tele-Health appointments and they will receive contactless meal deliveries. Any classes will be taken online only.
Contact tracing has taken place, and those impacted will quarantine, while also being monitored via daily Tele-Health appointments and taking classes online.
