During these pandemic times, a number of PAC-12 athletes demand major changes and a restructuring of college sports. I am sympathetic to some of the demands; but in total, it begs bigger questions:'

- Ensure safe play during Covid-19

- Fight racial injustice

- Secure economic rights & fair compensation

- Protect all sports

- Obtain long term health insurance

As a fan of college FB and supporter of non-revenue sports, this action/boycott would appear to make it impossible to support students and the role of athletics in their development. At some point, universities and colleges will have to decision whether they can continue to subsidize sports for men and women.

BTW, sharing in the revenue of your own sport would force elimination of other sports, except for BB.

PAC 12 Response to Boycott Letter:

This area is the one I have the biggest concern about:

Economics (Fair Market Pay, Rights, & Freedoms)

Players demand: 2% of conference revenue directed by players in partnership with conference to support financial aid for low-income Black students, community initiatives, and development programs for college athletes on each campus.

Pac-12 policy: None stated

Players demand: 50% of each sport’s total conference revenue distributed evenly among athletes in their respective sport.

Pac-12 policy: Since 2015, students who play sports at in the Pac-12 and any Autonomy Five institutions are eligible to receive the full cost of attendance benefits as part of their athletic scholarship. In total, with scholarships and cost of attendance stipends, students may receive benefits for tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, general supplies, and personal expenses.

No kidding; although we weren't alone in this practice. We were the one sacrificed, when we continued to mask our continuing behavior.
