UH's Dana Holgorsen still has top salary among Group of Five

The University of Houston’s Dana Holgorsen remains the highest-paid Group of Five coach and among the top tier of compensated coaches in college football.
Holgorsen’s $3.61 million salary for the 2020 season is No. 37 among the 119 contracts available in Football Bowl Subdivision, according to the USA Today coaching salary database.
Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M) is the fifth-highest paid coach in the nation at $7.5 million. Among Texas coaches, TCU’s Gary Patterson is ninth on the list at $6,130,937, followed by Texas’ Tom Herman ($5,827,917) at 11th.
Texas Tech’s Matt Wells ($2,872,833) is 54th, North Texas’ Seth Littrell ($1.85 million) is 66th, SMU’s Sonny Dykes ($1,340,314) is 75th, Rice’s Mike Bloomgren ($1,332,308) is 76th and Texas State’s Jake Spavital ($802,000) is 88th.
UTSA’s Jeff Traylor is No. 96 ($742,000) and UTEP’s Dana Dimel ($714,499) is 98th.
A salary was not available for Baylor’s Dave Aranda.
Alabama’s Nick Saban remains the highest-paid coach in the country with a total compensation of $9.3 million in 2020. LSU’s Ed Orgeron is second at $8.9 million.
