According to SMU football social media, former Austin (Westlake) running back Zane Minors has checked in with the other arriving freshmen.

Minors (5-10, 180) reported offers from Yale, Air Force, Army, Dartmouth, Columbia and Lamar, and was committed in February as a preferred walk-on to Texas.

Rushed 126 times for 1,068 yards (8.5 yards per carry)
Long carry of 76 yards
Averaged 76.3 yards per game
Had 4 games in he rushed for 100 or more yards
Rushed for 20 touchdowns
Caught 37 passes for 628 yards (17.0 yards per reception)
44.9 receiving yards per game
Caught 3 touchdown passes
Averaged 24.0 yards on 3 kickoff returns

Nice addition. This team needs another RB. Walking on to SMU is tough given the ridiculously high cost these days. Hopefully he shows well enough to earn a 'ship

Big boys probably figured he was too small to take the pounding at D-I but I remember some pretty effective RBs who came out of H.S. at 175 or less. Wasn't Bentley about that weight? I seem to recall Braden West coming in at about 165 and he was pretty effective. Those are just a couple of guys who come to mind in recent years but I'm sure there were more.
