An article today on CFB on new legislation which allows players to monetize their name, image and likeness without penalty takes effect, revisits SMU story and the Death Penalty.

"The irony of this action, of course, is evident at SMU."

I got an email from SMU today about how they are going to support athletes in monetizing their names and likenesses with guidance and education. I suspect, there will be a ton of people out there trying to sucker a freshman into some sort of long term deal for pennies in hopes that the freshman turns out to be a super star down the road.

I could see this tying right into the new Bold program.

Sonny and staff are some smart people.

in the article he writes:
The new rules will allow star athletes to be paid by businesses for the use of their name, image or likeness.

so son, here is $1000 to endorse a Ford.
hold on, here is $100,000 to endorse a Tesla.
why not one million?

let's watch University of Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State out bid one another.

Yes, the rich get richer.

However, SMU early commitment to BOLD and being competitive with regard to athletes branding themselves means we will be active.

Add to that, we are sitting in a big media market in Dallas which will add to our appeal.

As I recall, we have quite a few well heeled alums who own car dealerships in DFW. Just sayin'. Not to mention other businesses. Who's to say an SMU football player couldn't do a commercial on the benefits of oil?

yes, we could do oil but the whorens will have to do grease since that is what they have used for many years when working with the ncaa and their greasy palms

Yes, there is oil, And banks, car dealers and grocery stores, Fast Food Chicken, Doctors, Lawyers, Chiropractors, Message places, Music venues, Construction Companies, Stock Brokers, Commercial Realtors,Film Makers, etc. And that is just who I know off the top of my head.

SMU/Dallas is business in every way and in every part of the metroplex.

Thank God. I can't afford a big time speciality position. But I can fund a Kicker and will if SMU ask. All he has to do is participate in my charity golf tournament to support the disadvantage. Sure he will get an honorarium and have to give a 5 minute speech to the participants the night before the event shine dig. Its about time we use the rules to win again!
